Windchill factors indicate how cold it really is outside. My van displayed 8 degrees on my dashboard on this bright, sunny day. The sun felt good. Perfect conditions to melt snow and icicles. When temperatures drop, melted snow forms black ice. A condition feared by many drivers / operators. Add snow, freezing rain, sleet, then cold…and we have a wintery mix of emergency proportions.
Must we travel in this mess? Let’s face it. Most of us don’t drive an ambulance. For those of us who provide vital public services, that’s an exception. The vast majority of us do not. When possible, give salt and snow removal trucks time to do their job. Safety first. Yours and ours.
Live to see another day.
